2. ORGANIZER

The Organizing Committee for GOOD LUCK BEIJING—2008 Women’s Basketball International Invitational Tournament

3. COMPETITION DATES AND VENUE

Dates:19-26 April, 2008

Venue:Beijing Olympic Basketball Gymnasium (WIS)

4. PARTICIPATION

4.1 Participating Teams

Six (6) national teams, including Chinese National Team, will be invited to the tournament.

4.2Registration

Invitation letters will be sent to National Basketball Associations by the Organizing Committee no later than September 20, 2007.

National Basketball Associations are requested to confirm their participation to the Organizing Committee no later than October 15, 2007. In a case of an invited team failing to meet this deadline, Organizing Committee may revoke this team’s right to participate and may invite another team.

Preliminary Entry Forms must be sent to the Organizing Committee by December 31, 2007.

Entry Forms must be sent to the Organizing Committee by March 15, 2008.

4.3Team Member Quota

Each team is entitled to enter twelve (12) players and five (5) accompanying persons, making a total of a maximum of seventeen (17) persons.

Extra participants should submit entry forms together with their participating teams.

7. TECHNICAL OFFICIALS

7.1 Technical Delegates and International Technical Officials will be appointed by FIBA.

7.2 National Technical Officials will be appointed both by the CBA and the Organizing Committee.

8. TEAM MANAGER MEETING

Team Manger Meeting will be held on 18 April, 2008. Team Managers, Coaches, Technical Delegates, Competition Manager and representatives of relevant departments of the Organizing Committee should be present at the Team Manager Meeting.

9. COMPETITION SYSTEM

9.1 Preliminary Round

Each team will compete against all the other teams once. Winning teams will be awarded two points, losing ones one point, withdrawing ones zero point. Places will be determined according to the points teams get in the Preliminary Round.

9.2 Final Round

The top two teams in the Preliminary Round will play against each other for the 1st and 2nd places.

Teams finished in the 3rd and 4th in the Preliminary Round will play against each other for the 3rd and 4th places.

Teams finished in the 5th and 6th in the Preliminary Round will play against each other for the 5th and 6th places.

10. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

10.1 Participating Teams (a maximum of seventeen (17) persons each team)

Local transportation and accommodation during the tournament (April 17–26, 2008) will be provided by the Organizing Committee. The costs of extra nights as well as expenses of extra officials will be covered by participating teams.

10.2 Technical Delegates and International Technical Officials

International air travel (return trip), allowance, local transportation and accommodation will be provided by the Organizing Committee.

10.3 National Technical Officials

National travel (return trip), allowance, local transportation and accommodation will be provided by the Organizing Committee.

11.DOPING CONTROL

Doping tests will be conducted in accordance with the anti-doping policies of IOC and FIBA.

12. TROPHIES AND CERTIFICATES

The top 3 teams will be awarded trophies and diplomas. National flags of the top 3 teams will be raised. National anthem will be played for the champion team.

 All participants will be granted certificates of participation.

13. UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT

13.1 Uniform

All participating teams shall have two (2) sets of uniforms, one (1) in light and one (1) in dark color. Numbers (No.4-No.15) on the uniform must be clear. Relevant regulations on uniform please refer to the Official Basketball Rules 2006 approved by FIBA.

13.2 Equipment

All equipment used in the tournament will be the same with those used in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

14.INSURANCE

BOCOG has purchased liability insurance in order to cover all such third parties (including FIBA officials, technical officials, athletes, team officials, sponsors, media, spectators, volunteers) against, without limitation, bodily injury, property damage or purely financial risks which due to BOCOG.

15.TRAINING

The Organizing Committee will provide training courts from 17 April, 2008 and arrange training schedules for participating teams according to their arrival dates.

Pre-tournament training

60 minutes per day at competition court

120 minutes per day at training venues

Training during the tournament period

90 minutes per day at the training venues

16. VISA PROCEDURE

All participating teams will be provided with an official “Visa Notification” from the Organizing Committee through fax to apply for their participants’ entry visas at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in their respective countries.

19. ACCREDITATION

All participants must go through the accreditation procedures and be accredited. It is requested that one passport photo of each participant should be sent to the Organizing Committee together with by e-mail no later than March 15, 2008 and indicate the participant’s name.
