(BEIJING, April 26) -- Lots were drawn in Beijing today to determine the preliminary round groupings for the Olympic basketball tournaments. On the men's side, Iran, Lithuania, Argentina, Russia, Australia and one qualifier of Olympic Qualifying Tournaments were selected to play in group A; China, Angola, Spain, USA and two qualifiers of Olympic Qualifying Tournaments were selected to play in Group B.

On the women's side, Republic of Korea, Australia, Russia and three qualifiers of Olympic Qualifying Tournaments will play in group A; China, Mali, New Zealand, USA and two qualifiers of Olympic Qualifying Tournaments will play in Group B.

China will compete against the United States in both men's and women's basketball competitions during the Olympic Games.

Three more spots in the men's tournament and five spots on the women's side will be filled through qualifying matches in mid-July.

The Olympic basketball tournament will be played August 9-24 at Wukesong Indoor Stadium in Beijing.
