Korea wins with high shooting percentage

(Beijing, April 20) Kim Jung Eun scored a game-high of 26 points to offset a 22-point, 5-rebound effort by New Zealand's Angela Marino and Korea hit 72 percent from the field to send New Zealand to their second consecutive loss today in the "Good Luck Beijing" CNPC 2008 Women's Basketball International Invitational Tournament, 90-78.

Jung Sun Min went for 18 points while Choi Youn Ah and Beon Yeon Ha had 13 and 12 respectively in the win for Korea, who made 31 out of 43 from the field this evening.

Jilian Harmon contributed 18 points and Lisa Wallbutton scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the loss for New Zealand, who hit 22 out of 49 from the field.

After tying at 13, Korea overcame on a Choi Youn Ah's three and led the first quarter 23-19.

Korea gained a double-figure lead late in the second quarter 34-23 and made it 47-38 after the first half. Kim Jung Eun made 4 out of 4 from the field and 1 out of 3 from the arc for a total of 13 points.

New Zealand cut the Korean lead to within 2, 51-49 on a Jessica Mccormack's jumper three minutes into the third quarter. But bench player Kim Yeong Ok helped Korea regain a 10-point lead later, 65-55. The Koreans were up 74-64 after three periods.

The foul-plagued New Zealand was still held a low field goal percentage in the fourth quarter, conceding 90-78 at the buzzer.กก
