Day 2: Two straight wins for host China

(Beijing, April 20) Host China achieved its second consecutive victory in the "Good Luck Beijing" Women's Basketball International Invitational Tournament today by beating world No.2 Australia 67-64. USA, Cuba and Australia all finished with 1W-1L with New Zealand at the bottom with 2L.

USA 92, Cuba 60

Sylvia Fowles scored 25 points and collected 18 rebounds as the USA rolled to a completely easy 92-60 win over Cuba.

Four other US players reached double figures as Katie Smith had 19 points, Swin Cash gained 12 and Lisa Leslie and Crystal Langhorne each poured in 10 in the win.

Suchitel Avila Cazanas led Cuba with 17 points. Center Yayma Boulet Peillon had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds while Yakelyn Plutin Tizon added 11 in the defeat.

Korea 90, New Zealand 78

Kim Jung Eun scored a game-high of 26 points to offset a 22-point, 5-rebound effort by New Zealand's Angela Marino and Korea hit 72 percent from the field to send New Zealand to their second consecutive loss.

Jung Sun Min went for 18 points while Choi Youn Ah and Beon Yeon Ha had 13 and 12 respectively in the win for Korea, who made 31 out of 43 from the field this evening.

Jilian Harmon contributed 18 points and Lisa Wallbutton scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the loss for New Zealand, who hit 22 out of 49 from the field.

China 67, Australia 64

In the last match held today, Miao Lijie scored a game-high of 15 points and Chen Nan added a double-double of 12 points and thirteen rebounds to lift China to a thrilling 67-64 win over world No.2 Australia.

Bian Lan was the third Chinese player reaching double figures today, 12 points. Liu Dan poured in 9 in the win for China, who was 30 percent from the arc.

Suzy Batkovic notched team high 13 points while Rohanee Cox and Emma Randall each had 12 and Hollie Grima added 10 for Australia in the loss.

Australia outrebounded China 48-24 in the match, but made only 2 out of 17 in long-range shooting.
