(Beijing, 23 April) - Comments from Australian coach Janette Stirling, and Australian player Emma Randall, Natalie Porter and Erin Phillips following their game at the Beijing Olympic Basketball Gymnasium.
Nanette Stirling (AUS) - Coach
On Australia committing too many turnovers, and the way they will address this issue:
"Korea played quite well and had good pressure on us. They were creating opportunities for our turnovers. I will show our athletes the video and let them adapt to the quick Asian style."
Emma Randall (AUS)- Forward
On her performance:
"I think today obviously we played quite well. The Korean team are quick, but we managed to pull the ball inside."
On their high number of turnovers:
"We haven't had a whole preparation. You know we are trying to address the situation at the moment, and hopefully tomorrow we will be set up. "
On their dominant rebounding:
"Yes, our focus is about to make sure that we dominate the rebounds, obviously we are bigger than them."
Natalie Porter (AUS) - Centre
On Australia's turnovers, with Korea tallying a high number of steals against them in the first half:
"They get up and try to knock the ball, and that caused us a lot of trouble. But in the third quarter, we got back into better position and the situation got better."
On Erin Phillips' performance after she sustained an injury in Australia's last game:
"Yeah, she recovered very well after the treatment, and we are looking forward to tomorrow's game."
Erin Phillips (AUS) - Guard
On her team's high number of turnovers:
"I think our team was just pushing them quickly and we are trying new things. This is the time we practice. It's a toumament. Sometimes we make turnovers."
On her injured left ankle:
"It's quite sore, but a little bit OK. Just something I have to put up with a little bit."
On the differences between this game and their last game against Cuba:
"A lot better. I think we are playing less nervous. Everyone is pretty relaxed."
On the game tomorrow against NZL:
"We know their game very well, and they know our game very well. I hope we will do better than we played a couple of week ago. That should be a fun match."
